ISLAM AND RISK

"And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the steadfast" (Al-Quran; Surah Al-Baqarah : 155)

RISK IS UNCERTAINTY!!

- Will happen (except death)
- Give impacts
- Must be managed

WE NEED PROTECTIONS!!!

Protections from Islamic Perspectives

Command of Al-Quran

"The people should fear while thinking of it that if they themselves would have left helpless children behind them then at the time of death they would have all kinds of fear about their own children. So they should fear Allah and speak the truth" (Al-Quran; Surah Al-Nisa' : 9)

"Verify never Allah change the fate (condition) of a person until they change it themselves" (Al-Quran; Surah Al-Ra'ad : 11)

Command of Al-Hadith

"Narrated Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas : .... it is better for you to leave your off-spring wealthly than to leave them poor, asking others for help..." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

"The Prophet (S.A.W) told a Bedouin Arab who left his camel untied to the will of Allah : Tie the camel and then leave it to the will of Allah" (Narrated by Tarmidzi and Ibn Majah)
